Yearly Events and Special Activities

Greenwood Public Library also hosts yearly events for children and teens such as:

  • Picturing America is a program Greenwood Public Library offers with a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Last year's program provided reproductions of great American artwork to our library. This year, the NEH provided us with the 2009 We the People Bookshelf grant, a set of classic books for readers from Kindergarten through high school. Starting September 30th at 3 pm, Greenwood Library will be hosting book discussions for teens 12 and older using these books. For more information, view the fact sheet, or call the library at 302-349-5309.
  • The Summer Reading Program, a 10 week program from June to August that encourages kids to read. There are cool events each week such as crafts, acting, magic shows, and programs by great performers as well as weekly prizes and one grand prize drawing! Open to children and teens from ages 3 to 17.
  • The Summer Murder Mystery - the last murder mystery was such a blast we decided to do it again this year! This year's murder mystery, "The Good, the Bad, and the Guilty ", will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Greenwood VFW. Auditions will be held on Thursday, June 24 at 3pm at the Greenwood Library. Kids, Teens, and Adults are invited to audition for our murder mystery!
  • Craft Nights for kids and families. During past events we've decorated tote bags, made Christmas wreaths, snowman, Mother's Day cards, and Easter decorations. Craft nights are held throughout the year.
